Born 1976 Los Angeles, California.
Damian took up amateur archaeology at the age of two
or three. Learned early on that sometimes newer isn’t
necessarily better.
His childhood was anything but dull. It was the Art-Deco
household of his artistic father that made for an early influence.
His play-life included impersonating a motorcycle policeman,
observing Roman sea battles on the hallway floor, and
participating in various WWII skirmishes. Of course he
was always drawing and making things.
Around 15 years old he began formal figure drawing under Shanna Galloway; apparently, a cosmic ray
bounced of off Bill Bouguereau’s beard and ricocheted
off the shirt collar of Matisse which then hid under
the fingernail of Loren Mozley only to pass thru Galloway’s
hair and finally lodge into a pencil which is still
in the possession of Mr. Chavez.
Later, A few Old Masters, and several very Old Masters
befriended him while time travelling around in Europe.
Current projects include: exfoliating, debating whether
to learn to play the Kithara or purchase a videogame
system, hanging with his pretend girlfriend , and “looking into what this art thing
is all about”.
